How to Upload Files via FTP to the New Spark Media Platform

What You’ll Need:

  • FTP Client (e.g., FileZilla, Cyberduck)
  • Host (Server): ftp.newspark.ca
  • Login Credentials: Same as your Platform username & password
  • VHost ID (Your unique account number, e.g., 1263)
  • Group/Channel ID (If uploading to a specific group or channel)

Step-by-Step Guide

1. Set Up Your FTP Client

2. Connect to the Server

  • Host: ftp.newspark.ca
  • Protocol: FTP (not SFTP)
  • Encryption: Plain FTP (no TLS/SSL)
  • Login Type: Normal
  • Enter your Platform username & password

3. Navigate to the Correct Folder

After logging in, you’ll need to specify where your files should go:

  • For a Channel:
    /vhost-ID/channels/channel-ID
    (Example: /1263/channels/26185)
  • For a Group:
    /vhost-ID/groups/group-ID
    (Example: /1263/groups/429727)
  • For the Root Folder (No Group/Channel):
    Just use /vhost-ID (e.g., /1263)

4. Upload Your Files

  • Drag and drop files into the correct folder in your FTP client.
  • You can also manually select files and upload them.

5. Verify the Upload

  • Log in to The Platform and check:
  • Unmoderated Media section for new uploads.
  • The correct group/channel if you specified one.
